OUR CRIB!!!

Even before I got pregnant we knew exactly what crib we wanted. Actually, before I even really thought about babies, I knew what kind I wanted. My sister had a wrought iron daybed growing up and when she got married, I got that bed. Little sisters look up to big sisters and I always loved her bed. In fact, much to her dismay, I used to sleep in her room on the trundle bed just to be around her...my poor sister. Anyway, she eventually took the bed to her new house but I have always loved the iron bed. I got to wondering if they still made iron cribs, I knew I had seen vintage ones but there was NO WAY I would put my baby in a vintage crib. Safety regulations are SLIGHTLY different these days. Safety regulations are the reason why Baby P is not sleeping in the very same crib that the cousins slept in. Anyway, I found some beautiful, ornate cribs online, very princessy and Victorian almost, not my style. But then I came upon this crib:

This is the Joy crib from Bratt Decor and oh am I ever in love!!! It's perfect! Exactly what we wanted! And it's in my house!! AHH!! I ordered it on a Tuesday and the company said it would be a minimum of
6 weeks. 2 days later they called to say it was ready to be delivered! It came on a HUGE truck and the nicest delivery guy let me inspect every piece before I signed for it. I took a million pictures so when we get it put together, I'll will upload them and make one big post. I can't believe there is a crib in my house!

Bump pic catch up

I have been slacking on my weekly updates but that's because other than my growing belly, nothing has changed in the last few weeks. I definitely look pregnant which is fun! A few strangers have asked me when I'm due and luckily none of them have rubbed my belly which I'm grateful for. I decided a while ago that I have NO problem with someone I know touching my tummy by strangers are going to get pushed away if they reach for it. It's weird. I thought I would just post the pics from the last few weeks and then really try to keep up with my updates from now on. We'll see.

14 weeks 2 days

How far along: 14 weeks, 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: We go to the dr. on Monday so we'll find out if I've gained any yet, I'm hoping not too much but we'll see

Sleep: I still need a lot of it but taking naps on my days off are not that easy. I usually take an hour nap and then I wake up feeling like a zombie. I wake up 4-6 times a night to pee but I still fall back asleep right away. I have been finding myself sleeping on my left side more and more. I'm thinking I get uncomfortable on my back and roll over in my sleep. In the next couple weeks, I think I'm going to get one of the pregnancy sleep pillows to help prop up my tummy. It's not big enough yet, but I am shoving my down comforter underneath it for a little added support.

Movement: I thought maybe I felt something the other night but I think it's too early. Hopefully within the next couple weeks!!

Food cravings: Still none really. I still totally love strawberry frozen yogurt and after Pigfest last week, I've been daydreaming about fried pickle spears. There is nothing I HAVE to have, but my day will come. :)

Gender: Within the next 4-6 weeks we'll know!! We will schedule our anatomy scan on Monday at our appointment so then I can start my countdown. Jp thinks boy, I think girl. The odds are good either way! HA!

Symptoms: Boobs still hurt, hoping that lessens soon. Still get a little queasy at night close to bed time. My skin has gotten WAY better. This week I noticed little blond hairs on my tummy and boobs, it's so fine and light but it weirded me out. I googled it right away and found it to be completely normal. Oh well!

Best moment of the week: 2nd tri baby!! YES!! I'm so happy to be out of 1st tri, there are no words! Also, we have been redoing our bedroom and it's almost done-which means we can soon move on to baby related things on our checklist of things to do to the house. :) Baby P got some more presents this week! Momsie, soon to be Grams, bought Baby P really cute little mousie stuffed animals...from FRANCE!!! My dad calls me Mouse and so I have always loved little mice. Hopefully Baby P will too!

Belly shot:

Yikes!! It's really happening!!

NT scan fun time

Being the kind of person I am, I opted to have the NT scan done. The outcome of the test certainly wouldn't change any decisions we would make but at least we could be prepared if we needed to be.

I was very nervous the morning of the scan but I was excited because I knew I'd get to see Baby P, so that calmed me a little bit. The doctor who does the NT scans in the practice I go to is very nice, a little older than my OB and has an AMAZING mustache! I am glad we met another doctor in the practice since there is a chance our doctor will not deliver Baby P (but I pray all the time that he gets to). He explained the test and what they are looking for and in we went with the sonographer. The sonographer was very nice and had the most calming voice. She explained that she keeps the screen facing her until she gets the measurements she needs and then she'll turn it towards us for a quick look. As soon as the picture came up she said, "We've got a mover on our hands".  This baby definitely takes after Daddy and WILL NOT be still!! She was poking me and prodding me, trying to get the baby to move into position. Jp and I joked that the baby said, "Hey, Momma and Daddy, check it out, I've got legs and arms!! Watch what I can do" and the dance party would begin. Our baby is definitely a little dancer. After about 20 minutes of poking, she decided to move to the "other" kind of ultrasound, affectionately called the dildo cam by most girls. She said that sometimes she can get the measurement this way and if not, it almost always moves the baby into a better position. Well, no luck in the measurement department but once she switched the the regular ultrasound again, BAM, she got what she needed. I like to think it's because I closed my eyes and said, "Baby P, I know you're excited about your new appendages and perhaps Momma shouldn't of had chocolate milk before we came, but please, sit still for one second because Momma is getting bruised!".

After all that, we had been in there for 45 minutes and sadly she had another appointment so she showed us our little wiggle worm and off we went. The doctor reviewed our results right away and told us that everything looked perfect and we just needed to wait for the blood work. A couple days later we got the call that everything was negative and we were so excited! Way to go Baby P!!

We did get one decent shot of Baby P:

Wiggly arms and legs!!! And a really cute face! Baby P for sure has Daddy's mouth! YAY!

12 weeks

Yikes, I haven't been so great with my check-ins! For a while I was WAY too sick to do any but now that I feel great and I'm starting to get a little belly, I should be more on top of it. So here goes...

How far along: 12 weeks, 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: Lost 7 pounds while I was sick and according to the scale at my OB's office, I haven't gained any back! Yahoo!!

Sleep: I need a lot of it. I wake up about 4 times to pee but I always fall right back asleep. I need a good 8 hours minimum.

Movement: Nope just my growling tummy

Food cravings: I've had a few moments where I say things like "Cheetos would be awesome right now!" and Jp looks at me and laughs. But I'm not really "craving" anything yet. I have really enjoyed Strawberry frozen yogurt lately...

Gender: Not for a while, we'll know in February or March

Symptoms: The boobs STILL hurt. A lot! I get a little queasy if I get too hungry so I try to keep food with me, cashews, raisins, anything I can eat easily. My skin is getting better as 2nd tri approaches, thank goodness!! I pee A LOT and I'm starting to get a belly...although I know it's really just organs making their way to their new temporary home. :)

Best moment of the week: When I realized that I'm starting to look pregnant! YAY! I am showing a little early, but I don't care. I'm really excited to have a little belly that is not bloat. Also, my amazing sister and Godmother-to-be of Baby P sent a package of toys for Baby P. This little baby is already spoiled, but Auntie Claus will take "spoiling" to a whole new level. We are very lucky to have such wonderful family in our lives that love this little baby before they are even here.

And now for a belly shot:

This pic was taken in what will be the nursery and I can't wait to get started on it!!

2nd Ultrasound

On January 6th we had our first official, very long, appt. with my doctor. They warned us it would be long but over 2 hours, WOW! First we met with the financial person who goes over all of our insurance and the estimated cost of our appointments, ultrasounds, delivery, etc. We were very pleasantly surprised to find out our delivery is covered 100%!!! All we have to do was pay a $25 copay! We will have some other costs for ultrasounds, epidural, optional testing, etc., but considering most deliveries average around $6,000, we feel very very blessed! Next we had another ultrasound and I was very excited to find out it was a normal ultrasound, on the belly! YAHOO! Baby P looked like a gummy bear and was dancing all around! It was SO SO cute, Jp could hardly sit still he was so excited!! After our ultrasound we met with my OB who has been my gynecologist for 6 years. He is a funny guy, tall and kind of teddy bear like and the best part, he did his residency at UF, which may be the reason why I chose him in the first place. :) He gave us our official due date of July 31st and went over a TON of information. Next we headed to the lab where I handed over about 12 vials of blood and then we were finally on our way.

Now for some photos:

The ultrasound pic is of Baby P at 10 weeks, 3 days and the pic of me is at 10 weeks, 2 days. :)

1st Ultrasound

This post is a little late because of a. I was terribly ill and b. The Holidays, but better late than never.

The morning of our first ultrasound I woke up SO sick and a little nervous. I managed to eat a little and waited until the absolute last second to get in the shower-it was a rough morning. When we arrived at the doctor's office I had started to feel a little better and we luckily didn't have to wait long. As soon as the ultrasound started, Baby P popped right up-looking a lot like a caterpillar with a beautiful little fluttering heart. We were instantly in love! The doctor then dated me at 8 weeks, which I was excited about because the quicker I can get away from the first trimester, the better!! We even got to hear the little heartbeat and I'll never forget that sound, so fast, like a little train.

It was a wonderful day and for a brief moment, my excitement overpowered my nausea! YAY!!

The above pics are of course, Baby P, and us (me smiling despite the major nausea!)
